Introduction to Volume of a Cube
DEFINITION OF A CUBE
A solid bounded by six square faces is called a cube.
PROPERTIES OF A CUBE
A cube is a 3 dimensional figure as it has three parameters namely length, width and height which are equal.
Edge: The intersection of two faces is a line known as edge. A cube has eight equal edges.
Vertex: The common point of two or more line segment is known as vertex. A cube has eight vertices of equal measure.
Volume: Volume is the measure of the space occupied by a 3 dimensional figure.
Unit of volume: Along with the magnitude of volume of a substance, we also require a unit to represent the volume. This could also help us on what is independent variable
The volume of the space region formed by a cube of edges 1 cm long is called a cubic centimeter and is written as 1 cu. cm or 1 cm. Similarly other units of volume can be metre or m, decametre etc. This also helps us on difference of cubes
